![]() ![]() ![]() For those of you just tuning in, the end of Dungeon Siege II heralded the death of Valdis, a nasty lord of evil, but it also ushered in some serious problems. And while that last build came with some save slots that allowed us to jump right into the action, the version we're playing with now only comes with some boilerplate characters, so we're starting the game right from the beginning. If you're getting a little d¿j¿ vu right now, that's because we did a hands-on a few months back - with a much smaller slice of the game. Recently we get our grubby hands on a near-final build of Broken World, due out next month, and it looks like it should appeal to fans of DS2. DS2 and its expansion have provided some much-needed depth that previous installments lacked, and combat is more interactive (although you can automate some of it if you choose). ![]() It's apple doesn't fall as far from Blizzard's tree as you might like, particularly with the strikingly similar naming conventions and properties of your characters' equipment - but DS has proved to be some chunky good fun, with explosive burst of power that rival some of the most electric battles that Diablo had to offer. Others have tried, others have died, but DS keeps on trucking. When it comes down to it, Dungeon Siege might be the only franchise that has put Diablo to the test. ![]()
